2. AMALFI COAST: NAPLES AND CAPRI

3. TUSCANY REGION

THE LANDSCAPE

The Tuscan coast is the number one destination to visit if you’re looking for natural and unspoiled scenery.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Tuscan Archipelago – Made up of seven beautiful Islands known for their romantic coastlines and ancient ports that make for an enchanting charter.
  • Elba – The largest Island of the Tuscan Archipelago, Elba is popular for it’s mix of cultural and recreational activities, from hillside castles, to hiking, diving, and beaching.
  • Montecristo – Made famous by Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Count of Monte Cristo, this mysterious Island has only recently been opened to tourists. With a limit of 100 people who can be on the Island on any given day, this secluded island remains as exclusive as it is magnificent.
  • Cala Palombaia – This breathtaking beach can only be accessed by descending 200 steep steps into a sea-grotto surrounded by deep blue stones known as “sassi turchini”.

4. LIGURIA REGION

Known as the Italian Riviera, you’ll find popular yet enchanting traditional villages here with colorfully painted buildings and harbors that line the shore.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Genoa – Rich in maritime history, this city’s old quarter is perfect for those looking to experience culture, but also offers a beautiful redeveloped waterfront area that is always buzzing with activity. You’ll also want to take the time to purchase seafood from the incoming fishing boats and drop anchor in Riviera di Levante.
  • Portofino – Southeast of Genoa, the resort town and fishing village of Portofino is home to an iconic harbor, frequently lined by super-yachts. With a mere 500 permanent residents, Portofino is brought to life in the summer by the visitors that floods the Boutiques, art galleries, cafes and restaurants along it’s tiny streets
  • Cinque Terre – Made up of five coastal villages, the pace of life here is slow and sweet. With no cars allowed in the city centers, the local trains, ferries and walking trails are the best ways to experience Cinque Terre and travel between the towns.

5. CALABRIA REGION

The best panoramic beaches Italy has to offer, and the cleanest air in Europe.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Tropea – Considered the most beautiful city of the Calabria region, this port city overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea. The beaches alone warrant a stop in Tropea on your charter vacation.
  • Capo Vaticano – A destination best known for sunbathing and swimming in the clear blue waters. Many of the bays are protected by dramatic cliffs and rock formations and can only be reached by sea.

6. SARDINIA AND COSTA SMERALDA

7. SICILY AND AEOLIAN ISLANDS

  • Aeolian Islands – Made up of seven astonishing islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea north of Sicily, all featuring black-sand beaches created from volcanic origins. A popular summer destination, the Aeolian Islands still remains calm throughout most of the year, and are a perfect destination for long picturesque walks along the coast.
  • Catania – Not unlike many Italian cities, Catania is rich in culture and history, and was once one of Italy’s most important cultural, artistic and political centers. Based at the foot of Mt. Etna, it was devastated years ago by it’s eruption, but arose from the ashes to become the glorious city it is today.
