COMFORT ON BOARD: FILIPPETTI NAVETTA SERIES

The N SERIES has high standard for comfort on board.

In addition to providing a functional and unique ambiance, its design also benefits from special measures that improve the quality of life on board, creating quiet and cozy surroundings.

Our commitment to comfort is proven when put to the test. In two tests performed by professional journalists on board the Filippetti Navetta Series, the Filippetti Navetta 26 detected a lower level of noise in decibels than the typical dialogue between two people when cruising at 13 knots. Aboard the Filippetti Navetta N30, the noise level still measured below that of a normal conversation when cruising up to a maximum speed of 17 knots.

The acoustic and thermal insulation soundproofing are designed to contain the transmission of vibrations and noises and to minimize thermal losses. All walls provide additional insulation, which thanks to the use of anti-vibration, guarantee maximum silence during night cruises. Thermal insulation is achieved through the use of the glass chamber, an insulating glass formed by the two-coupled glass, separated by an air gap dehydrated or gas, protected on the entire perimeter by a double sealing.

Since the use of insulation is both efficient and effective when it comes to increasing the comfort onboard, it is important to use the highest quality materials and rely on qualified companies that can provide products that meet rigorous standards. With this in mind, Filippetti Yacht uses only the best suppliers, which include Six ItaliaCofemeParoc and Vulcan.

COMFORT ON BOARD

The comfort on board is a crucial factor in choosing the right boat. Market demands have lead shipyards to develop new solutions and use techniques and materials that are increasingly more modern, efficient, and innovative. When it comes to comfort on a boat, there is more to consider than just the furniture or equipment – true comfort embodies the entire experience of life on board, and a quiet cruise with minimal vibration can make all the difference. This thermal and acoustic isolation is achieved through insulation. The insulation technique is used to isolate two systems that have different environmental conditions. This is done by injecting insulation between two parts of specific materials (ex. panels) that do not allow the exchange of heat – in the case of thermal isolation – or exchange of vibrations – in the case of acoustic insulation. When the correct insulation solution is chosen, passengers will experience perfect temperatures and optimal energy savings. Sound insulation is especially crucial with boats that travel over long distances and navigate during the night. In general, sound in the interior of the yacht is generated by devices that vibrate and make noise during their operation. The noise generated by these sources is diffused in the various environments through two main transmission mechanisms: by air and by structure.

By air

An example of this case is noise coming from a device that is closed in the engine room. The vibrating walls of the device create pressure waves in the surrounding air (acoustic waves), which distribute and are perceived as noise. These waves travel within their environment until they reach a wall, at which point part of the noise is trapped within its environment, and part passes through to the adjacent environment. The transmitted acoustic energy gives rise to what is called “noise transmission by air”.

By structure

This is an example of vibrating devices connected to the engine room foundations in a more or less elastic way. This induces vibrations in the underlying structure (mechanical energy); once the vibratory energy has been transmitted to the structure and distributes inside it, because of the low level of damping of the typical materials used for the construction of the structure (steel, aluminum fiberglass), it also spreads into areas far from the original source. Once the energy reaches a panel or a flat surface, it creates vibrations that in turn generate pressure pulsations in the surrounding air, producing noise in the environment.

The main sources of noise on board a vessel are:

  • The propulsion system components (main engines, gearboxes, propellers, engine exhaust systems);
  • Auxiliary systems (generators, exhaust systems associated with them);
  • Hydraulic systems (pumps, hydraulic actuators, bow thrust, winches, cranes);
  • Various plants water/air (electric motors, compressors, pumps, valves);
  • Fans (engine room, indoor fan coil booths, air treatment units);
  • Electrical systems (panels, inverters, and electric devices under voltage).

Depending on the specific conditions, different insulation can be used from a wide range of materials, including:

  • POLYURETHANE
  • GLASS CELL
  • ROCK WOOL
  • FIBERGLASS
  • CERAMIC FIBER
  • ALUMINUM SHEETS, STAINLESS, AND GALVANIZED STEEL.

The isolation is accomplished with customized products and with fastening systems suitable for each individual system element. It is important to remember that on-board comfort is also synonymous with safety. It is also for this reason that the engine room is one of the areas that receive the most attention. Various isolated pipelines are also used in this environment to reduce high temperatures, avoid burn hazards, and prevent the spread of fire.

HOT LAB DISCUSSES THE NEW FILIPPETTI NAVETTA 35

The Filippetti Navetta 35 is the project that has aroused the greatest interest from our audience.

This boat has been designed by the Italian Studio Hot Lab Yacht & Design. Antonio Romano, one of the founders of Hot Lab, tells us about the creation of this project, its remarkable features, and how he expects this project to be welcomed to the market.

What was the inspiration for the Filippetti Navetta 35?

In recent years, the market has changed a lot. There are now many more requests for large boats with low consumption that are also able to guarantee eco-consciousness. These principals inspired the design of the Filippetti Navetta 35, big sister of Filippetti Navetta 36 and Filippetti Navetta 30 that were already built by the shipyard.

How did you meet Fausto and Giovanni Filippetti?

I met both with Giovanni and Fausto in 2009, when we brought the yacht, “Biscuit”, to the shipyard in Mondolfo for completion. We quickly developed a strong friendship and mutual respect – Giovanni and I are the same age and we both believe in a bright future for our companies. The Filippetti Navetta 35 is the first yacht we have designed together, but it certainly will not be the last.

What are the basic features of this boat?

The Filippetti Navetta 35 is characterized by timeless external lines that portray classicism typical of boats of this type, while at the same time incorporating all the desires of the modern market, such as the ability to have a sizeable Beach Club at the stern, large windows, and of course a garage for tenders and toys.  The interior space is open and spacious, with the master suite on the main deck being one of the largest in its category.  Below deck, up to 5 comfortable cabins can be accommodated, or part of the space can be dedicated to a spa area.  The Sky Lounge on the upper deck is wide and crates a unique space with the outdoor stern area. The interior can be completely customized in style and in the layout. All of these features alone are incredible, but when combined into a single yacht, they create a true thing of beauty.

How do you think will be received by the market?

Compared to its direct competitors, the Filippetti Navetta 35 has wider interior spaces and has better exploited the ability to build a totally customized yacht that only a shipyard delivering high quality craftsmanship as Filippetti can guarantee. The elegant exterior lines will win over the the hearts of many fans –  the timeless look is reminiscent of the classic Mediterranean Navetta, with the addition of modern design elements to meet the current demands of the market. The superior build quality, voluminous custom interiors, and elegant design are all elements that the market will certainly appreciate.

The floor is oak parquet, while the light-toned ceiling is illuminated by bands of LED lights arranged in parallel designed by Cantalupi lighting.

The interior space has been glazed in dark gray, a shade that emphasizes the yacht’s sporty character and contrasts with the white metallic hull.

LOWER DECK

Below the deck of the Filippetti Flybridge 93 are four spacious and luxurious cabins, three of them with large queensize beds and one with two single beds, the master cabin is midship and the VIP cabin located at the bow. Access to the lower deck is through a stylish glass and steel staircase from the main deck behind the pilothouse seats.

The lighting provides an important decorative element, thanks to light beams also designed by Cantalupi lighting. The large windows, a hallmark of the Filippetti series allows natural light to fill the interior. The owner of this yacht chose to customize each cabin with subtle nuances through the use of beautiful colors of the fabrics and main furnishing elements – even the mosaic tiles of the showers incorporate different shades to match the accent colors in each cabin.

The crew area is accessed through an internal staircase on the main deck, designed for three people, it includes two cabins, two bathrooms, and a spacious kitchen. The kitchen includes all Miele brand appliances, including a kitchen basin, American commercial sized refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and ceramic stovetop.

The crew area also houses a laundry room outfitted with professional equipment and direct access to the engine room.

The on-board garage houses a 4-meter tender and room for three jet skis.

HI-TECH EQUIPMENT

UNDERSTANDING THE VOLVO PENTA IPS PROPULSION ENGINES

For ten years since its launch into the yachting market, the IPS propulsion system was built specifically to suit high performance and sport yachts designed for speed and superior navigation. Now expanding into boats up to 100 feet (30.48 m), the Volvo Penta IPS Engine is revolutionizing the navigation and performance of sport and high-performance yachts.

The Volvo Penta IPS is not a simple engine but is a complete control and navigation system including a steering wheel, joystick, superior controls, propulsion units and bow facing propellers.

By expanding into boats up to 100 feet, this engine has begun to revolutionize navigation and bring its benefits such as reduced fuel consumption, improved sailing comfort, and greater maneuverability to a more widespread audience of boaters.

Unlike most of its competitors, the propellers in the Volvo IPS Propulsion engine are mounted on the front end of the propulsion unit which produces a counter with drawer effect meaning the wake is parallel to the boat bottom, making sure that all the power developed can push it forward.

During in-depth performance testing, the propulsion system’s high efficiency was 20% more rapid in comparison to a traditional installation in-line, with a reduction of fuel consumption of 30%, an increase of 15% in acceleration and a reduction 50% in the levels of noise and vibration.

THE BENEFITS OF VOLVO PENTA IPS

  • 30% less CO2 emissions
  • 30% reduced fuel consumption
  • 50% lower perceived noise level
  • Safe predictable handling

The absolute protagonist of Navetta 30 Gatsby is the owner. The Filippetti shipyard is a real boating boutique with the sole objective of making each yacht unique and exclusive.

The first Filippetti Navetta 30 was born in the "Custom" version with six cabins and a completely redesigned layout. A series of functional solutions have been adopted on board, the result of the owner's desire to reserve large private spaces for him and to accommodate a greater number of guests. The interior layout in fact provides for an extra cabin compared to the standard version (6 cabins instead of 5).

Filippetti Yacht thanks to its specialized team is able to satisfy every request, creating a unique and exclusive boat that reflects the tastes and personality of the owner.

As for the style choices, the owner chose American walnut for the furnishings of the whole boat, creating suggestive light-dark games with the rest of the décor.

GREEN PHILOSOPHY

The Gatsby, like all boats in the N line, has been designed in an ecological and eco-sustainable way, in accordance with the strict principles of environmental, safety, and quality standards, without ever losing sight of the tastes of the owner.

With 27,000 liters of fuel, 4,000 miles of autonomy, this 30-meter guarantees over fifteen days of continuous navigation. Onboard you can enjoy long and relaxing cruises in harmony with the sea and with minimal environmental impact.

CLOSE UP LIGHT

Onboard the Filippetti Navetta 30, light is the recurring element thanks to the large side windows and the unique portholes that decorate the boat. 180-degree windows run throughout the owner's cabin, allowing natural light to illuminate the spacious interiors, and to enjoy the wide view and the external panorama.

MY GATSBY- Customized Layout

Filippetti Navetta 30 stands out from the other boats in its segment to develop, in its 30 meters in length, on four main levels: lower deck, main deck, upper deck and sun bridge.

Each level has a well-studied division of spaces, which predisposes its optimal use by the owner and his guests, allowing you to experience the relationship with the sea from truly privileged positions.

The owner of the Gatsby has decided to customize the entire internal layout according to his needs.

MAIN DECK

Salone Navetta 30 metri DislocanteFrom the large cockpit, a real outdoor lounge furnished with sofas arranged around a coffee table, you enter the "open space" living area. The salon is an extremely convivial area: you can be distracted in area leisure, chat on a comfortable sofa or sit around the dining table.

On the left, a day bathroom is available for guests.  On the right is the kitchen equipped with the best equipment - such as to satisfy even the most demanding chefs - and appliances of the Miele brand. The kitchen has direct access reserved for the crew, to ensure the separation of the flows of guests and crew.

Continuing towards the bow we find the large VIP cabin, equipped with a private bathroom and a spacious wardrobe. However, this cabin does not extend to the extreme bow as expected in the standard version. In fact, in this area, the owner has placed the command bridge, which has moved from the upper deck to the main deck.

The dashboard is equipped with all the latest generation professional instruments.

LOWER DECK

The lower deck is accessed via an internal staircase located in the center of the boat on the main deck.N30 Luxury Yacht

The area dedicated to guests occupies the entire central part of the boat. It consists of four cabins - two with double beds and two with single beds. Each cabin has a private bathroom and large windows that give brightness and offer suggestive views.

On the side, in the stern direction but completely separate from the guest area, there are the crew quarters. This area consists of two cabins for two people each, kitchen, dinette, laundry and ironing area, and two private bathrooms.

Continuing towards the stern, a technical area concentrates all the onboard utilities and systems in one place. This room separates the crew area from the engine room.

The captain's cabin is located on the extreme bow, with direct access to the command bridge.

At the stern, the garage door rotates in a horizontal position, creating a 10 sq m private beach with direct access from the cockpit, equipped with a stainless steel bathing ladder and shower.

The garage can hold a tender up to 5 meters and a three-seater jet ski, as well as all the equipment for water sports.

UPPER DECK- “OWNER DECK”

The upper deck is assessed internally via a staircase in the middle of the boat or through an external staircase from the cockpit.

The owner of the Gatsby has decided to customize the entire upper deck, creating a real "Owner deck". This is a location that ensures maximum privacy and a breathtaking view.

The owner's suite is located at the far bow, in a position that ensures maximum external visibility. The windows run 180 degrees along with the entire cabin. The head of the bed is facing the stern and allows you to enjoy the pleasure of navigation and the external panorama even when lying down.

From the bedroom there is direct access to a private terrace with sea view, facing towards the bow. The bathroom, divided into two distinct areas, consists of a Spa area with an exceptionally large shower and services. The whole area is finished with the finest marble.

Everything is completed with the walk-in closet and another compartment that the owner has decided to use as an office.

Aft, another outdoor area is available to the owner and is set up with sun loungers, dining table, and wet bar.Bathromm

SUN DECK

The sun deck, which can be reached by climbing a staircase from the upper deck, is an additional sunbathing area. Guests and the owner can relax in this space with total respect for their privacy, even when the boat is moored in the marina.

ENGINES

The propulsion of the Gatsby is entrusted to two MTU engines of 1200 horsepower each, which allow us to reach a cruising speed of 13.5 knots.
